It was Monday, the day after the Penn Central declared bankruptcy. I had to pick my Dad up from work
at Magnavox at 5:00. I left a couple of hours early so I could do some train watching. I went to Meyer Road which
was one of my favorite places to watch trains. Before I had a drivers license, I use to ride my bike there and watch
trains.
First, an Eastbound goes by. A little later, a Westbound drag approches with 6 engines.
He is moving real slow, and at about 150 cars he comes to a stop. After sitting for a while, the train is cut at a NYC
caboose that has a dead NYC engine and a lot of cars behind it. The train pulls away leaving the caboose, engine and
the rest of the train behind, and then all is quiet. A little while later, a yard engine comes and couples onto
the caboose. I look at the clock and it is ten till 5! Got to go pick up my Dad. Never did find out how
long the train was.
